Pioneer Park, Fairbanks, AK

When we arrived in Fairbanks, AK it was late in the evening but you wouldn’t know it by the “midnight sun” so we found a little restaurant near our hotel and had some dinner.  After dinner we talked to the proprietor of the restaurant and she recommended that we visit Pioneer Park since we were first time visitors to Fairbanks; a nice walk to work off some of the calories consumed at dinner.

The Park’s businesses were closed for the day but we were free to walk around and see the old wooden homes of Alaska that were converted to shops.  Following are some photos of the old structures (and their doors); and while walking around the park we encountered some young people playing the new FAD game, Pokemon Go.  Apparently, this park is a hotspot for the Pokemon players and we (old fogies) learned what the new game was about.

      1. I want to shoot the fog in the city! I’m talking to George in our group about meeting up on Hawk Hill sometime tomorrow…morning or evening. Interested?

It’s been 5 yrs since I got a good fog shot with the bridge!

    1. Thanks Jean. It used be dangerous walking on a sidewalk dodging skateboarders, bicycle riders and people reading and texting; now it may become very dangerous if you don’t keep yourself aware of your surroundings as some of the PG players may be charging down looking for the Pokemon without looking out for people.
