Continuing from the last post about visiting Las Vegas; these are the remainder of the door photos that I shot in Downtown Las Vegas.
Across from the The Mob Museum, walking up the block I encountered some bars and restaurants. Next door to the Pawn Shop is the Hogs & Heifers Saloon. Like most places in Las Vegas, daylight does not do their images justice; the lights at night tend to add makeup to their plain facades and transform them into more appealing buildings. Such is the HHS.
The doors on the HHS are regular storefront doors dressed up in Americana style. The American Flag hangs proudly at the door and the doors are covered with door tattoos (decals and stickers of all kinds). Wish I had the time to stop in for a drink to see more of the inside but perhaps on a future trip.
Moving on, I found the doorway to the Triple George Grill. Wood doors this time with an interesting marble or stone entry frame that looks like a temple or something more classical than expected in this area.
Approaching the end of the block, I found the billboard displaying the lunch special for the day; if I had not already eaten lunch I might have had their soup of the day, “Beer”. Gotta love a place that has that kind of soup.
Ending this doorscurion are the signs that remind you that you’re not Dorothy in Kansas but a wanna be winner in Las Vegas.
Hoping to go back there again to visit the money I left behind.
Thanks for visiting my blog and thanks to Norm 2.0 for his Thursday Doors blog. For more blogs and photos of doors by others please go to: Thursday Doors.
Loved your narrative and description about night lights are like make-up for buildings. It’s so true!
Loved the door tattoos, and art deco bar door and entrance.

Thanks Marian; glad to contribute a euphemism to the literary community. Do you think I should copyright it? 🙂

HaHa; sometimes natural beauty is better but that’s what Las Vegas is known for (the lighted Strip).

I just could see any details apart from too many tatoos as you called them. I just don’t like ads at all.

Thanks Norm, We had 78 people attending this reunion, most traveled from Hawaii. We were able to get 4 high school alumni to attend and it was fun seeing old friends and meeting new ones.

The tattooed door is pretty cool. One or two would detract but 100 makes it special.

Thanks Dan. The decals and stickers certainly details where their customers came from which makes it an interesting watering hole.

Those top doors are rather full, aren’t they? I’m amazed that so many people came from Hawaii to Vegas for a reunion, not an inexpensive proposition, I imagine. Glad you had fun.

Thanks Janet; most were traveling from the isles. There is a chartered flight with hotel accomodations and they provide a book of free or discounted meals in the hotel’s restaurants so it’s quite a bargain.
