On the way to Russia our tour, bus included, boarded a huge ferry from Stockholm, Sweden and traveled overnight to Helsinki, Finland. The ferry had restaurants and shops, transporting a few thousand passengers but our cabins were small, windowless things to take a nap in until we arrived in Helsinki and nothing more. I was tired and didn’t bother to take any photos on this ferry so it’s a blank page on this part of our tour.
In Helsinki, we picked up our local tour guide and drove around the city but I must have had ferry-lag and dozed on the bus until we stopped at a park and later at the Marina area for lunch. The Marina is also where our hotel, a converted warehouse, was located for our overnight stay before heading to Russia and I was able to take a doorscursion in the evening near our hotel and around the Marina where I found many renovated brick buildings in the area.
This is an exterior photo of the Grand Marina Hotel, where we stayed. It was renovated to include nice modern rooms and it was near a cruise ship terminal.
Here are a few door photos of my doorscursion that evening. Steel and glass door on old renovated brick buildings.
Then I found this cool glass building with glass doors surrounded by more brick buildings with doors.
I’ll stretch this country’s visit into another post next week before we head to Russia and end here this week.
