Race Against Time

Well, I’m late in posting this week so I’m rushing to get this post up before Norm closes the door for this week.

Last Saturday, we revisited Matanzas Creek Winery for a planned meetup and this time, our organizer arranged to have dramatic clouds follow us throughout the day.  What a difference this makes!

After the Matanzas event my passenger and I decided to go to the Luther Burbank House and Gardens; Deborah suggested this location but at the last moment took ill and couldn’t join us so we missed her on this shoot.  Luther Burbank was a famous horticulturist that made his home and gardens in Santa Rosa, CA (I have to admit that I didn’t know the guy and had no idea what he did until I got to the historic home and gardens).  Since I’m rushing against time I’m just going to post a few photos and maybe come back to this posting to add to it later.

This photo was a similar composition of the building I shot at the Matanzas Creek Winery in my “Vine Country” post but you can see what dramatic clouds will do for your photos (the photo was processed as a HDR image).

This second photo was an image of the lavender garden at the Matanzas Creek Winery that shows the lavender stating to bloom but we were still early for the bloom.

  1. I really like that little seed room/carriage house, and that Green House! I love the shape of it and the brick foundation/retaining walls.

Wow, that sky was dramatic! It would be lovely to go back when the lavender is in bloom. I’ve got this winery on my list since I missed seeing it with you and B.

  2. Thanks, Jean. The clouds were dramatic throught the day; in some shots I did HDR (high dynamic range) processing because it was mid-day but the shot of the lavender field was shot with a polarizer and very minor Lightroom adjustments, in fact I used my polarizer on all shots.
