Do You See a Door?

I’ve been behind in posting Thursday Doors so I’ll do a simple one this week.  If you read some of my recent posts, you saw some images of the Honolulu Kakaako District’s wall murals.  This will be a post from that location again.

The wall murals (past and current) at the Kakaako District were resultant from Pow Wow artists events in Honolulu over the years but I recently learned that Pow Wow events are international events; graffiti artists are everywhere and if they put their talents to good use instead of unwanted destructive tagging of public and private properties they can revitalize communities and bring people together.  The art is certainly great for photographers!

While doing a doorscursion and searching for wall murals with my wife, I turned into an alleyway with cars parked along a long wall.  I saw the painting below and had to shoot around a parked car; if the car wasn’t there it would have been great but it made me try to compose an image with it from different angles.  The painting was awesome; such detail that it looked realistic.

I have to confess, that I’m stretching the Thursday Doors theme a bit here, but the car does have a door near the wall if you can manage to look beyond the wall mural.

So if this door doesn’t satisfy your craving for door images, please visit Norm Frampton’s Thursday Doors website.  Norm is the person that sees all doors and created his site to store them; other door bloggers found that they were limited on their spaces to show their door-wares so joined Norm and posted images on his site.  Just go to his Thursday Doors website, read and look at his fantastic door photos and press the blue frog doorbell to enter his magical door bloggers’ portal and see what others are posting and post your own doors for others to enjoy, too.

Thanks for visiting my post and thanks to Norm 2.0 for his creation of the Thursday Doors website.  For more posts and photos of doors by others please go to: Thursday Doors.

  1. Some interesting stuff comes out of stretching the theme on doors — like this post! I get what you mean about the car in the way, but you know what? It’s still a great shot, and I’m still glad you shared it!
