Doors Surrounding the San Jose Community Rose Garden

Last weekend, I joined some fellow photographers for the purpose of shooting blooming roses in the San Jose, CA Community Rose Garden.  Deborah, our well-known door blogger, was present since the event was in her city and she asked me to join her on a doorscursion in the surrounding blocks of the rose garden after the shoot so naturally I accepted her invitation to have a “docent” tour of the neighborhood.

My tour guide pointed out beautiful homes attached to some impressive doors in this neighborhood and she said they had considered buying a home in this neighborhood earlier; I wish Deborah did live in this neighborhood because it was a well manicured and fantastic neighborhood and visiting a friend here would have been awesome and this was aside from the parking and crowds that assemble there on weekends to enjoy the garden park.

The homes were a mixture of Spanish designs and modern American and no matter where you looked it was worth a photo.  We even encountered a home that possessed a replica leg lamp and shade that was featured in the “Christmas Story” movie in the front picture window, Lamp ; the photo I shot of it did not turn out well because the polarized filter I used blacked-out the interior and reflected the flowers in the reflection so I won’t post that image but the link provided above indicates what we saw.

I’ll post a few photos here and save the rest for a rainy day (don’t forget that California often experiences droughts so it might be awhile).

One of the first homes we encountered.

Two photos of door 1605, I wanted to include the flower shot since we were at the Rose Garden

Wouldn’t mind walking on this walkway if this was the door to my home.

As we walked on this block we found this 2-door vehicle near the gate of this side of the Rose Garden.

And to end this post; it “was” Mother’s Day weekend so here’s a belated Happy Mother’s Day greeting to all the mom bloggers and reviewers of this post.  This was one of the roses that got in the way front of my camera’s lens.

  1. Sounds like you had a very good doorscursion! I’ll be keeping an eye out for your “rainy day” post (whenever that may be 😉 )
The other two doors might look more inviting, but 1605 is my favourite by a narrow margin – it looks pretty classy

  2. Oh I loved 1605! Your image is lovely. I focused on the yellow roses at the gate and door while you were composing your rose/door shot. Brilliant! I never “saw” this shot.

My image of the Leg Lamp didn’t come out either. I think we need to go there in the blue hour when they have it turned on and make a new image. 🙂

That was a good day. I too love that rose with the waterdrops!
