Sorry for the hiatus from the Thursday Door blog but I was in Alaska and Vancouver, BC the past two weeks (first time in Alaska). I’m rushing to get this post up today and selected this photo but I know I shot more doors during the trip. It was an old narrow door on a red-painted building on a residential property and I’m not sure what it was used for but it caught my eye.
Walking through the town of Talkeetna, AK, a stop on our travel from Anchorage to Denali, was fun. A local from Alaska suggested we visit there and described it as an old hippy town (I agree with that description) and it’s a tourist destination for families, outdoor enthusiasts (rafting, hunting and fishing) , motorcycle bikers, etc. Lots of small restaurants and a great location for photography if you have the time (unfortunately, we didn’t have much time as we still had a long drive to Denali that day).
This photo is from the General Store’s sign (I think it captures the flavor of what you might see here).
Another quickly edited photo of the Antler Outpost Store (a horny but colorful place).
Thanks for visiting my blog and thanks to Norm 2.0 for his Thursday Doors blog. For more blogs and photos of doors by others please go to: Thursday Doors.
Nice. Alaska is on our bucket list for next year. 🙂

Thanks Judy; like I commented to Norm, they need tourists to help with the declining economy.

That’s a cool door. Nice pics; I’m hoping to get up to the Yukon and Alaska before I get too old to enjoy it 😉

The summer season was very warm; the economy is bad due to the low oil prices so they welcome visitors.

Thanks Deborah. Lots of wildlife to see in Alaska so you will enjoy that trip. Didn’t see any wolves or eagles (got a photo of an eagle from a wildlife preserve but it was in a cage – missed an eagle in Squamish, BC by a day).

There’s been 2 Bald Eagles seen in the last few days by a several people off I280 near the big Dish. Exciting that they’re showing up here!

Thanks Joey; Denali was awesome in its natural beauty. Our tour bus passed 5 bear sightings and it was amazing to see a bear close up. Take your family, they will enjoy it.
