The Doors of the Gravity Car Barn

Last week our photography meetup group planned an event to shoot the sunrise from the summit of California’s Mt. Tamalpais (aka Mt. Tam) located in Mill Valley.  The highest point elevation is 2576 ft. but we shot at slightly below that elevation.  Last month, almost every day on the Bay Area Coast experienced a heavy layer of marine fog and this day was no exception.  The summit level gave us a perspective from above the layer of fog and it was magical except the sunrise occurred before we were allowed to enter the gates of the park so we weren’t able to get photos of the sunrise.

The first couple of photos gives you an idea of what we saw.P8062740

There is a museum on the west side of the summit for the Gravity Car Barn.  The link below provides the history of this museum.  I thought the doors on the Gravity Car Barn would be perfect for my contribution to Norm’s 2.0 Thursday Doors blog this week.

  1. Mill Valley? I have no idea where that is (maybe you remember I love SE of Sacramento, close to the 49 high way of the gold rush). Next to these nice big doors, I love the clouds you captured!

  2. Wonderful . . . . . . we visit the Bay Area quite a lot given my home is in Great Britain but have never discovered this fabulous place. On the list to visit now 🙂
